Tyres are part of modern transportation systems, but disposing of them has become a severe environmental

and economic problem. These improperly discarded tyres cause mass pollution, contribute to global warming,

and pose public health risks. However, recycling tyres reduces such problems and promotes sustainability

by saving resources and decreasing waste.

Some of the merits of tyre recycling are:

• Waste Reduction: Recycling tyres takes them away from landfills, thereby reducing the

environmental impact of waste.

• Resource Conservation: Materials like rubber, steel, and fabric that are recovered from recycled

tyres can be reused, thereby reducing the demand for new raw materials.

• Pollution Prevention: Recycling prevents chemical leaching and toxic emissions from burning tyres.

• Energy Efficiency: Recycled materials require less energy to process, reducing carbon footprints.

• Economics: tyre recycling creates jobs and offers cost savings for industries using recycled

materials. The recycling industry provides employment opportunities in collection, transportation,

processing, and manufacturing. Additionally, using recycled materials can be more cost-effective than

sourcing new raw materials, leading to potential business savings.

Tyre recycling promotes a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility. By raising awareness

about the importance of recycling and encouraging individuals and businesses to participate, we can

collectively positively impact our planet.

GLP together with our Partners, have  developed a tyre recycling facility which meets a Truly Circular Economy.  Taking waste tyres which are processed to be reused in New tyre production.

We developed a 11 Acre site and obtained full Planning Permission on a site situated on the southwest side of Glasgow.

A fully Designed and Engineered Tyre Recycling plant capable of processing up to 100,000 Mt of tyres (heavy goods and automobile) per annum. The plant has the capability of totally recycling tyres in that the Rubber Content, Wire and Canvas elements can all be reused.

The project includes equipment supplied by Amandus Kahl equipment for the Shred and Crumb lines and De-vulcanisation equipment supplied by Tyromer, this together with  world leading Hydrogen/Natural Gas Mix powered generators producing 8MW of Electrical power and 12MW of Thermal Energy to drive the processing equipment and meet site heat demands.
